PROVIDENCE – Enzo Rebula, who as head of human resources was charged with knitting together four companies into what would become FM Global, received the Career Achiever award at Providence Business News’ second C-Suite Awards program Thursday night.

Rebula, the senior vice president for human resources at the Johnston-based global property and casualty insurer, was working at Arkwright Mutual Insurance when in 1999 it merged with two other insurers and a jointly owned engineering and research affiliate.

He was put in charge of combining the staffs into one whole, a project that has succeeded quite well, based on the company’s financial performance and employee satisfaction. And now he is charged with increasing the diversity of the company’s workforce to more accurately reflect the insurer’s client base.

In remarks he delivered, Rebula noted that he had learned many lessons from his immigrant parents, including keeping your word, tending to details and maintaining your humility. He also emphasized that more than technology or finance or operations excellence, the most important asset of any company is its human capital. His acceptance speech followed recognition for the 13 other honorees at the event, which was held at the Omni Providence Hotel in front of 250 business leaders, co-workers and family members.
