WASHINGTON – The Federal Aviation Administration has awarded a high priority
to T.F.Green Airport for the installation of ground radar. The so-called ASDE-X
system is designed to provide close surveillance of traffic runways and taxiways.
In a letter from an FAA administrator to Sen. Jack Reed, she informed him that
Green is seventh on the list for installation of the equipment, indicating that
could be as soon as next year. Reed wrote to the FAA after a near collision
last December requesting installation of the equipment.
