Gtech 4th-quarter net rises almost fourfold

West Greenwich-based Gtech
Holdings Corp., the world’s biggest supplier of online gaming
systems and services, said fourth-quarter earnings rose almost
fourfold and expects higher first-quarter profit.

Net income increased to $41.9 million, or 72 cents a share,
from $10.7 million, or 18 cents, a year earlier, the company said in a statement. Revenue
for the period ended Feb. 22 fell 1.7 percent to $270 million from
$274.6 million.

For the first quarter, which ends May 24, earnings will be
60 cents to 65 cents a share, compared with 49 cents a year
earlier, the company said.

Existing lottery contracts with Arizona, Idaho, Brazil and
British Columbia were extended in the fourth quarter, and a new
lottery contract in Spain was signed, Gtech said.
