GTECH Corporation has opened its first After School Advantage computer lab in Washington County at the Arcadia YMCA in Wyoming.
The new computer lab is the ninth center opened in Rhode Island to date and the 73rd After School Advantage computer lab opened by GTECH since it launched the program, designed to bridge the “digital divide” for minorities and low-income households, in April 1999. The Arcadia YMCA opened last year, and serves 50 Hope Valley children in its after school program.

With a total commitment of $3.3 million, GTECH donates an average of $15,000 in computers, online technology, computer software and volunteer hours to selected after school programs in predominately inner-city communities where GTECH offices are located.
GTECH has opened After School Advantage sites at eight other locations in the state, including Roger Williams Park Zoo in Providence and the RI Boys & Girls Club in Pawtucket.
