A unit of Gtech Holdings Corp., the
world’s biggest supplier of online lottery systems, was sued by
Canada’s Ingenio, part of Loto-Quebec, which claims Gtech
infringed two U.S. patents for computer lottery games.
Gtech Holdings’ Gtech unit has known since mid-2003 about
Ingenio’s patents, awarded in 1996 and 1998 and continues to use
the technology without permission, according to a suit to be filed
Tuesday in federal court in Delaware. Gtech also sued competitor
Scientific Games Corp. in Delaware yesterday, claiming
infringement of two patents for lottery ticket vending machines.
