Hanscom, Worcester airports absorbing some Logan overflow

BOSTON –While Logan International Airport continues to serve more passengers,
showing 1.3 percent increase from 1999 to 27.4 million customers, the Massachusetts
Port Authority reported, airports in Bedford and Worcester showed a much greater
expansion. Massport reported Hanscom Field in Bedford and Worcester Regional Airport
had a combined 35 percent of the total increase in passengers in 2000. Hanscom
reported serving 162,147 passengers last year, while Worcester had 106,145 passengers
last year, a 112 percent increase from the previous year.
