Harry J. Hallgring of the Newport Fire Department has been named to the board of directors for the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs. Hallgring was appointed fire chief of the city of Newport in January 2008. He has served as fire chief of Little Compton, interim fire marshal for the city of Newport, and fire captain, captain/administrative officer, lieutenant and firefighter for the Newport Fire Department. •
