Hasbro taps former Timberland executive

Bifulco will have day-to-day responsibility for those lines, including manufacturing operations, the company said in a news release. He has more than 20 years experience working at global companies, according to a statement from Hasbro Chief Executive Officer Al Verrecchia, who said he expects Bifulco to grow the games business and increase shareholder value.

Bifulco served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer at Timberland,
where he was responsible for setting business strategy and directing brand building.
Prior to that, he was a senior vice president at ICG Commerce, and at Coca-Cola
North America. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and
holds an M.B.A from Central Michigan University.

R.I. gets federal transportation dollars

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The U.S. Department of Transportation will be releasing more than $10 million to fund four Rhode Island projects, including repairs to the Interstate 195 Washington Bridge in Providence, U.S. Sen. Lincoln Chafee announced June 6.

The Washington Bridge project will receive $4.47 million in federal funding, while the Blackstone River Bikeway, an 18-mile path along the Blackstone River between Providence and Woonsocket, will get $2.7 million. Nearly $3 million will go toward the ongoing Interstate 195 relocation project, and $1.2 million will be spent on the Providence Transportation Information Center downtown.

Chafee (R-R.I.) in April requested of the Senate Subcommittee on Transportation that the funding be included in the U.S. DOT’s appropriations bill, according to a news release from Chafee’s office.

Also, U.S. Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.) recently announced that the U.S. DOT would release $1.6 million to the R.I. Public Transportation Association (RIPTA) to install a fueling facility in Providence. The funds will be used to install environmentally friendly gas pumps and expand the Elmwood Avenue complex.
