Alan M. Gilstein, CPA has been elected chairman of the board of trustees at
Miriam Hospital. He is the co-founder of Piccerelli, Gilstein & Company,
LLP. He previously served as tax manager in the Providence office of Peat Marwick
Mitchell & Co. Gilstein has served on Lifespan’s board of directors since
its inception in 1994 and had been on Miriam’s board of trustees for more than
20 years. He recently co-chaired the $8.5 million Lifespan Cardiac Care Initiative
and was a recipient of the Hearts of Gold/Ives Society award in 1999. He is
the treasurer of the Newport International Film Festival, a former member of
Planned Parenthood of Rhode Island’s board of directors and Trinity Repertory
Company’s finance committee. He earned bachelor’s degrees in accounting and
finance from Bryant College in 1964 and received the personal financial specialist
(PFS) designation from the American Institute of CPAs in 1999. He resides in
Warwick.
