Stephanie O’Hanley, Newport Hospital’s cardiac rehabilitation coordinator, has been named Employee of the Year at Newport Hospital. She has been at the hospital for six years. Under her leadership, the cardiac rehabilitation program has more than doubled its activity and now provides more than 10,000 patient visits per year. She also serves on hospital-wide teams and participates in community projects. A resident of Newport, O’Hanley earned her bachelor’s degree in kinesiology from the University of Maryland and her master’s degrees in health services administration from Salve Regina University and exercise physiology from Northeastern University.

Surgical services preadmission testing clerk Nikki Cesario received the Rev. John W. Dorney Award for exemplary customer service and pride in being a Newport Hospital employee. She has been with the hospital for 17 years, previously as dietary aide, certified phlebotomy technician and senior laboratory assistant. A native of Newport and a graduate of Rogers High School, Cesario resides in Bristol with her husband and son.

Bartholomew Grimes received the Annual Leadership Award at Newport Hospital. He has been a manager of the Newport Hospital pharmacy since 1987 and has been a hospital employee for 23 years. He is a member of the hospital’s medication error reduction team as well as the pharmacy and therapeutics committee. Grimes is also chairman of the hazardous materials and waste component of the safety management program. He earned his bachelor’s degree in pharmacy from the University of Rhode Island in 1977. He resides in Newport with his wife and three children.
