RI dot-com assists Mass. political campaign
Providence’s Bungo.com has been selected to provide messaging, organization and collaboration tools for the volunteers working to elect Massachusetts Republican nominee Martin D. Travis as representative for the fourth Congressional District.
The tools are known collectively as Bungo’s Corporate Efficiency Portal, which revolve around an integrated suite of advanced communication, productivity and collaboration tools that help companies and organizations improve efficiency. There is a contact section that allows users to share and publish customized address lists. Users have the ability to share data such as calendars, files, bookmarks and photos with defined groups. A free e-mail and instant messaging feature called LiveMail is also provided.

Campaign Secretary Cynthia Robinson said that the tools that Bungo offers helps them manage the campaign internally and communicate with voters.

Nestor selected for new red light technology
Providence-based Nestor Traffic Systems, Inc., an affiliate of Nestor, Inc., has announced that the City Council of Fresno, California has awarded the company a contract for the CrossingGuard video-based automated red light enforcement system.
Used to combat the problem of red light running and improve safety at three of the City’s high traffic intersections, CrossingGuard is the industry’s first automated enforcement solution to use video to monitor and detect violations, record violation images, transmit digital images electronically and issue citations.
According to research recently announced by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, Fresno had the sixth highest rate of fatal red light running crashes in California, which has the eighth most fatalities in the U.S.
Ann Kloose, legislative assistant for the Fresno City Council said she thinks CrossingGuard will give the City a level of enforcement that will make people more aware of the problem of red light running.
”We are most impressed by the quality of evidence, the element of fairness that it provides, and, of course, the safety feature,” she said.
The Gantry Group launches dot-com repair practice

Fraunhofer CRCG and QSC enter into partnership
Providence’s Fraunhofer Center for Research in Computer Graphics has announced that they have entered into a technology partnership agreement with QS Communications AG, Germany’s first public Internet access provider using SDSL technology. This partnership will give users connected to broadband networks access to new and innovative applications that only a broadband infrastructure can provide.
QSC will get access to all of Fraunhofer CRCG’s capabilities in computer graphics and related Internet technologies under constant development at the Fraunhofer lab in Providence. In turn, Fraunhofer CRCG will have access to the dynamic user communities and Internet markets, which are being developed by QSC.
Fraunhofer CRCG will actively participate in technology development programs in collaboration with QSC. Over time, the two companies expect that QSC’s SDSL networks will be augmented significantly by cutting edge Internet technologies and the newest broadband applications and services.
