Hospital, Chamber plan ‘Welcome to Newport County’

NEWPORT – The Newport County Chamber of Commerce has announced a new program called Welcome to Newport County, featuring free welcome packages for all new homeowners in the county.

People who buy single-family homes in Newport County are among the most affluent in the state and region, the Chamber said.

The welcome packages are to include extensive community information – including business directories, shopping options, dining menus, demographic data, and health and recreational opportunities – as well as special offers from local businesses. They are to be made available at Chamber offices and city and town halls throughout the county.

The program’s official launch will come during the Chamber’s monthly business after hours reception, this Thursday; the event will be hosted by program sponsor Newport Hospital, in the Hill Courtyard, from 5 to 7 p.m. (Advance registration is requested, by calling Jennifer at 847-1608 or visiting www.newportchamber.com/calendar.asp.)

“The Chamber does an excellent job of reaching out to newcomers,” said Arthur J. Sampson, the hospital’s president and CEO. “Newport Hospital takes very seriously its responsibility to provide health care to all residents of our community.”

Sampson added that the hospital sees the welcome-package program as an opportunity for “informing new members of the community about how and where to obtain … care.”
