Richard L. Phipps, of Phipps Realty in Warwick, was recently featured in PBN’s Business Notes section. He passed away Nov. 6.
Phipps was the Kent Washington Board of Realtors 2003 Realtor of the Year and was elected the board’s 2004 President. Rick had served on the board’s executive committee since 1998, as treasurer in 2002, and then as president-elect in 2003, as well as serving on many committees at the local, state and national levels.

Phipps was the 2002 recipient of the Kent Washington Board’s Distinguished Service Award, which was given in recognition of outstanding and unselfish dedication of time, talent and energy to the Kent Washington Board of Realtors and its members. This year he was the recipient of the Rhode Island Association of Realtors Barbara Kerney Award for lifetime commitment to the real estate industry.
He was married for 47 years to Joyce (Brophy) Phipps, founder of Phipps Realty. His son Ronald is the Designated Broker of Phipps Realty, and Ronald’s son Matthew is also a realtor in the company.

service to the realtor community and the larger communities in which he lived.
