WARWICK, R.I. — Infinite Group’s research division, Infinite Photonics, has been awarded a one-year, $1 million contract from the Department of Defense’s research unit, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA).
Infinite Group, a company working in the areas of laser material processing, advanced manufacturing methods, and laser and photonic technology, said the contract is for research in diode technology. Specific information about the nature of the diode research Infinite will conduct is protected by a non-disclosure agreement the company signed when it was awarded the contract, Infinite’s chief financial officer, Bruce Garreau, told PBN.com.

According to Garreau, research for the contract will be performed at the company’s Warwick and Kingston facilities. Infinite Group, which also has facilities in Massachusetts, Ohio, New Mexico and Illinois, employs about 145 people, Garreau said.
