James E. Purcell

James E. Purcell, president and CEO of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island (BCBSRI), has been named chairman of the 21st Southern New England Start! Heart Walk. In 2005, Purcell was named president of BCBSRI. He joined the company as chief operating officer in 2000 and became acting president and CEO in 2004. Purcell was formerly a founding partner and managing partner of Partridge Snow & Hahn. •
