James Walther has been named senior vice president, director of internal audit for The Washington Trust Company, based in Westerly. He works directly with the audit committee of the bank’s board of directors. Walther has nearly 40 years of audit experience. He joined the bank in 1998, most recently holding the position of vice president, internal audit. Walther is both a certified trust auditor and a certified fraud auditor. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Bernard Baruch College at The City University of New York and his master’s degree from the University of New Haven. Walther lives in New Fairfield, Conn.
