Jobless increase in Bay State

BOSTON – Massachusetts lost 6,000 jobs in August the state Division of Employment and Training reported. That brings the number of jobs lost in the state over the last two months to 10,100, DET reported. The largest sources of job losses were manufacturing and temporary employment, DET reported. The Massachusetts unemployment rate rose slightly from 3.8 percent in July to 3.9 percent in August. That is still better than the national rate that was reported to be 4.9 percent for August.
