Joseph D. Pianka, MD, a gastroenterologist, has joined the staff of Newport Hospital. He comes to Newport Hospital from the Emory University School of Medicine Division of Digestive Diseases in Atlanta, where he had served his fellowship since 1998. Pianka earned his medical degree from the State University of New York Science Center at the Syracuse College of Medicine in 1995 and served his internship and residency at the Winthrop University Hospital on Long Island, N.Y. While there he received the Outstanding Achievement in Academic Excellence Award.
