YARDLEY, Pa. – Journal Register Co. (NYSE: JRC) today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to sell its Rhode Island publications to RISN Operations Inc. for $7.6 million in cash, subject to working capital adjustments.
It said the transaction includes three daily community newspapers – The Call in Woonsocket; The Times in Pawtucket; and the Kent County Daily Times in West Warwick – and the weekly Southern Rhode Island Newspaper Group in Wakefield.

“We thank all of our talented employees at our Rhode Island newspapers for their contributions over the years and wish them all well,” said Robert M. Jelenic, the Journal Register’s chairman and CEO. The deal is expected to close by the end of this quarter the Journal Register said, subject to customary closing conditions.
