Kennedy announces $700,000 appropriation to The Providence Center

Congressman Patrick J. Kennedy (D-RI) has announced a $700,000 appropriation he has obtained for The Providence Center for the development of an innovative early childhood center. The funding will be dedicated to a program which will target pre-school children, parents and caretakers of young children.

Kennedy secured the funds as a member of the House Appropriations Committee’s Labor-Health and Human Services-and Education Subcommittee. The Providence Center earmark, included in the Fiscal Year 2002 budget within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, was approved by Congress in the final days of the recently completed session and has been signed into law by President Bush.
