The second statewide Latino Business Expo will be held Friday, Oct. 15, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Rhodes on the Pawtuxet, sponsored by the Small Business Advocacy Council, the Rhode Island Small Business Development Center at Bryant University and the Hispanic American Chamber of Commerce.
The first expo, last year, drew more than 75 exhibitors and more than 300 attendees, according to Lt. Gov. Charles J. Fogarty, chairman of the advocacy council. Latino-owned businesses are growing dramatically, he noted. The U.S. Census Bureau says there are now about 2,200, with more than $207 million in annual receipts.

“It is critical that we take steps now to help Latino businesses grow and prosper,” Fogarty said, “not through merely translating an existing service delivery model into Spanish, but through targeted and tailored programs that meet the particular needs of this business community.” Organizers plan to hold the event annually.
