Local contractor awarded

Ahlborg & Sons, Inc. a Cranston based general contractor and construction management firm, was recently awarded the Narragansett Bay Commission (NBC) construction expansion and renovation contract for the new Field’s Point Facility, located at the former Hudson The 20,000 square foot office addition to the existing 16,000 square-foot, four-story metal frame brick veneer building will house general administration. Currently, a 7,000 square-foot IMC support facility is being added to the site and an existing 4,000 square-foot building is to be renovated for a laboratory facility.

According to the company, these changes will bring personnel from the Narragansett Bay Commission, created in 1980 by the R.I. General Assembly to improve the water quality of Narragansett Bay, in a central location adjacent to the Fields Point Waste Water Facility. All 230 office and field personnel are dispersed throughout the Providence area. O. Ahlborg & Sons, Inc. started the construction project in November of 2000.
