Lockheed Martin Corp., the
largest U.S. defense contractor, and Raytheon Co. won a $486 million (300 million-pound) order to supply antitank weapons to
the U.K. army, beating rival European missile-maker MBDA.
Javelin, a venture between Lockheed and Raytheon, will supply
the medium-range light forces antitank guided weapons, which will
enter service in 2005 and last 20 years, a U.K. Ministry of
Defence spokeswoman said. The order will “create or sustain” 300
jobs in the U.K.
