Mayor kicks off public meetings

Providence Mayor David Cicilline announced today that he is beginning regular monthly meetings, which will enable members of the public to meet with him about interests, suggestions or concerns.

The first session –dubbed Mayor’s Night In – will be held Wednesday, Oct. 1, from 5 to 9 p.m., and will take place in his City Hall office. Private meetings with the mayor will last no longer than 10 minutes, and appointments will take place on a first-come, first-served basis. The second session – Mayor’s Night Out – will take place Nov. 18, at the Washington Park Community Center, 42 Jillson St.

“This is a successful model used in cities such as New Haven, Conn., and Michigan City, Mich., that brings the public into the governmental process, and I am confident the people of Providence will respond warmly to the opportunity to do the same here,” Cicilline said.
