Memorial Hospital of Rhode Island has named Martin E. Tursky as executive vice president and chief operating officer, recruiting him from Aultman Health Foundation in Canton, Ohio. He will be responsible for all operations and financial management of the hospital.
At Aultman, Tursky was most recently vice president and chief information officer, responsible for a $21 million operating budget and $4 million in capital purchases. In the last decade, he had helped implement a centralized scheduling system for physician offices and an electronic medical record system, and under his leadership, Aultman’s Heart Center expanded services and was recognized as one of the first Certified Chest Pain Centers in the nation.
Prior to joining Aultman, he was a captain in the U.S. Army, where he served both in the United States and abroad. He is a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, with a B.S. in engineering management/mechanical; he also has an MBA from Ohio State University.
In a news release announcing the new hire, Memorial President and CEO Francis R. Dietz said the hospital is “proud” to have Tursky join the staff.
“He brings a wealth of demonstrated experience in strategic planning, operations, project development and fiscal accountability,” he said. “Martin’s stellar record of achievement in a broad range of initiatives underscores his ability to enhance profitability and stimulate growth.”
