PROVIDENCE – All three Providence-based network television stations are in the running for New England Emmy Awards.
In addition to its five regional Emmy nominations, WJAR-TV NBC 10 took home last week two Edward R. Murrow Awards.
WJAR earned recognition for “overall excellence” and for its coverage of the 2010 floods with the Murrow awards presented by the Radio Television Digital News Association on April 22.
“I am so proud of the work our news team does on a daily basis,” said Chris Lanni, news director of WJAR, about the Murrow awards. “To be recognized by our peers for the work we do for our viewers is a great honor.”
Entries were judged on breaking news, continuing coverage, features, the station’s web presence and other work. The RTDNA established the Murrow awards in 1971 to recognize outstanding achievement in electronic broadcast journalism.
Earlier this month, WJAR learned, along with two other Providence-based stations, that its team has been nominated for New England Emmy awards, to be announced on May 14 by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences at a ceremony in Boston.
