NetJets to buy planes from Textron

NetJets Inc., the business-jet
company owned by Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway Inc., plans
to buy a total of 21 business jets this year from Textron Inc., Raytheon Co.
General Dynamics Corp. and Dassault Aviation SA for
$312 million to increase its European fleet.

The purchase will give Woodbridge, N.J.-based NetJets
64 planes in Europe, almost 50 percent more than the current 43,
NetJets said in a statement.

NetJets, which hasn’t been profitable in Europe, is buying
more planes after the number of owners there doubled last year to
240, the company said. NetJets, the world’s biggest buyer of
business jets, allows customers to buy a portion of those planes
for the right to fly them a predetermined amount of time. he aircraft going to Europe include a dozen Citation planes from Textron and five
Hawker jets from Raytheon.
