New Bedford logo maker honored

BOSTON — The Initiative for a Competitive Inner City has chosen a New Bedford
logo maker as the fastest growing inner-city company in the state. Ahead Headgear,
which makes logos for golf hats, reported sales of $25 million in 2000, up from
$18,3 million the year before. The company employs 375 people, most of them in
New Bedford, an increase from about 200 in 16 months, the Boston Globe reported.
The Competitive Inner City is a nonprofit group run by Harvard Business School
Professor Michael Porter. It produces a top 100 list from a national survey compiled
by the group and Inc. magazine.
