Ousted Gillette chief to get $8.7 million payment

BOSTON — Gillette Company’s former chief executive, Michael C. Hawley, will receive $8.7 million in compensation over two years, following his forced ouster from a job he held for only 18 months. Hawley had been with the company totally for 37 years, but only as its chief executive the last year and a half. The compensation package is to be paid over two years, according to the company’s proxy statement.
