New England Parking Company last week opened a $26 million state-of-the-art parking facility at T.F. Green Airport. The Red Beam Airport Garage offers 1,500 covered parking spaces within a two-minute walk of the terminal. It also features the latest design improvements in parking garages, including the first garage in Rhode Island to offer customers the option of paying for parking in the lobby of its new building through automatic pay stations or at teller payment booths. The lobby payment stations allow parking customers to make quicker exits from the garage.
The new garage also offers 24-hour security stations, high-speed glass enclosed elevators, and express exit lanes. The fees for the garage are now set at $11 per day and $40 a week.

“I don’t have to tell you that our beautiful airport is enabling us to move miles ahead in our efforts to fuel our tourism industry,” said Gov. Lincoln Almond, at a ceremony commemorating the opening garage on May 25.
Warwick Mayor Lincoln Chafee said the garage would serve as an important piece of the city’s economic development initiatives.
“The Red Beam Garage will not only enhance parking options at T.F. Green Airport, but is an important component in the evolution of the Warwick Station Intermodal District,” he said.
New England Parking Company manages all the parking at the airport and is currently working with the Rhode Island Airport Corporation to assist in the development of RIAC’s new (1,200 space) garage, slated to open in November 1999.
