PBN seeks Innovation Award applicants

PROVIDENCE – Applications are now being accepted for Providence Business News’ fifth annual Innovation Awards competition, which is presented in partnership with the R.I. Economic Development Corporation.

The awards recognize innovations in six industry categories:

  • Energy and the Environment
  • Health care and Biotechnology
  • Manufacturing and Construction (engineering and architecture)
  • Social and Community Services (nonprofits, education, government)
  • Information Technology
  • Professional Services (finance, hospitality, law, etc.)

In addition, there are three individual award categories:

  • Innovator of the Year
  • Rising Star Innovator (under the age of 35, including students)
  • Innovation Champion (individual or organization)

A panel of judges will meet in August to review the applications and select the winners. In some categories, a finalist may be selected as well. Profiles of last year’s winners are available here.

Application forms will be available Monday on PBN.com’s events page or by e-mailing events@pbn.com. The deadline for applications is Thursday, Aug. 19.

The winners will be honored at an awards dinner and ceremony Wednesday, Sept. 22 at the George E. Bello Center for Information and Technology on the campus of Bryant University.

The Innovation awards are sponsored by Bryant University, Cox Business, Gencorp Insurance Group, and the R.I. Science and Technology Advisory Council.
