Under terms of the agreement, Perot Systems will provide data center services at the CVS headquarters location including: computer operations, systems administration, production scheduling and monitoring. Perot Systems will offer full-time employment to all of the approximately 60 Woonsocket CVS employees who currently perform these services for CVS. In addition, the Woonsocket facility will become the Northeast Technology Center serving multiple Perot Systems’ Healthcare customers.
“Perot Systems is very proud to join with CVS Corporation, a company that has leveraged technology investments as a key part of its successful growth strategy,” said Chuck Lyles, Perot Systems vice president and Healthcare group leader.
“Perot Systems has a proven track record in supporting the technology needs of the health care industry. CVS will realize true benefits of this expertise through continued excellence in execution in a more efficient and cost-effective manner,” said Karl Taylor, senior vice president and chief information officer of CVS.
With the management of the Woonsocket data center, Perot Systems will expand its presence in Rhode Island and deepen its technology resources in the area.
“We are committed to continued business development that will further establish Rhode Island as a center of technology expertise in the New England area,” Lyles said. “The Perot Systems — CVS agreement is a significant, positive event toward realization of that goal.”
Perot also took over back-office operations for Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island last year. Nearly 600 former Blue Cross employees became Perot Systems employees
as part of a 10-year, $550 million contract for Perot to administer Blue Cross’ claims processing and information technology infrastructure. Nearly all effected employees were offered and accepted jobs with Perot; a handful opted for early retirement.
Perot Systems reported 2003 revenue of $1.5 billion.
