PRN ranked among top suppliers of medical equipment

FALL RIVER – Medical equipment sales and service company Physicians Resource Network Inc. (PRN) is the only New England firm named to the 2008 DOTmed Top 100.

“We attribute our success to the fact that we do what we say, and professionally follow up with our clients,” said President Robert B. Gaw, adding: “We have worked hard to provide quality products and excellent service – and it shows in our ratings.”

The winners were selected from more than 4,000 nominees nationwide, based on a 5-star rating program that lets DOTmed users rate other users of the medical-equipment buying service based on issues including timely payments, timely shipments, quality of equipment, after-sale service.

“Every year, we tally up the previous year’s votes and compile a list of the 100 users who have the largest number of high individual ratings,” Robert Garment, DOTmed’s director of marketing, said in announcing the 2008 winners. “These people make up the DOTmed 100, the crème de la crème of our community. The competition to make the cut is stiff, with thousands of votes for thousands of companies being counted – so making the final list is truly an honor.”

Winners are allowed to display the DOTmed 100 emblem in their equipment and parts listings, in directory listings and on their Web site. “It is a thank you for a job well done and a sign … that a person is trusted by their peers,” Garment said.

That trust has paid dividends for PRN.

“Our company has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, due to strategic alliances with hospitals and buying groups,” Gaw said.

The company has tripled the size of its warehouse in the past year, he said, and “the expansion of our facilities has enabled us to acquire out-of-service equipment and make it useful again at a fraction of the cost of new equipment.”

Going forward, Gaw added, the “recent [U.S. Food and Drug Administration] clearance of our new portable, PC-based product to detect peripheral vascular disease will require additional sales and service personal to support the new Vicorder Doppler for exclusive distribution throughout North and South America.”
