New products, services, Web sites and solutions of all kinds for small business are constantly coming across my desk. Here is a quick list of what I call 10-second solutions – you will get an idea of what each has to offer in 10 seconds or less:
• Tax Help Online: A new 2009 tax center available on the legal site Findlaw.com offers authoritative advice and resources on filing your tax return for tax year 2008. It includes info on deductions, deadlines, audits and much more. Visit taxes.findlaw.com.
• Zero percent tech financing from HP & Dell: HP (www.hp.com) has a terrific new deal for small business that lets you finance $1,500 to $150,000 worth of tech products from HP’s entire line at zero percent, and you can choose to either lease or own. Ditto for Dell (www.dell.com), which recently expanded its own zero percent lease- financing options for small business.
• Process charges on your iPhone: Business owners who have embraced the iPhone have another reason to rejoice: a new application that effortlessly turns your iPhone (and, it works on an iPod Touch, too) into a credit card processing device. Use your iPhone to collect real money with ProcessAway, an awesome new app at the iTunes AppStore for $19.99.
• New .tel service has small-business appeal: There is a new player in the crowded domain-name derby called .tel — only this one is offering something uniquely different for business users. Think of .tel as more of a turnkey service that can help customers find you online without the need to build, maintain and host a full Web site. Telnic, which operates the registry for .tel, calls it the “Webless Web.” Visit www.telnic.com for details.
• Pay-for-performance job listings: RealMatch.com is a fast-growing site that lets employers post job openings free (national or by region), view applicant qualifications and pay only a small fee for the ones you want to contact or interview. RealMatch uses unique matching technology to line up applicants with the best fit. A great alternative to pricey job-listing sites.
• Rebid your business insurance: Surprisingly few people shop around when it comes to insurance and most are not aware they can switch at any point in a policy without penalty. With comparison aggregators such as NetQuote.com, business owners can fill out a single application, compare quotes, apples to apples, and save immediately. •
