PROVIDENCE – Confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Rhode Island increased by 669 from Aug. 13 through Sunday, with three new deaths, the R.I. Department of Health said Monday.
Hospitalizations of COVID-19 patients in the state totaled 75, a decline from 85 reported prior to the weekend. Of those hospitalized, 13 were in intensive care units and six were on ventilators.

The department said there have been 175.7 new cases per 100,000 Rhode Islanders in the previous seven days, which the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention defines as “high transmission.”
Confirmed cases in the state have totaled 158,283, an increase of 694 from figures reported prior to the weekend, accounting for the day-to-day increases as well as data revisions for previous days.
Deaths due to the virus in Rhode Island have totaled 2,747.
There have been 670,115 individuals in the state fully vaccinated, as well as 1.36 million total COVID-19 doses administered.
There were 2,699 tests processed Sunday, with an overall positive rate of 5.7%. When excluding both repeat positive and repeat negative test results, the positive rate was 22.5%.
There have been 4.72 million tests administered in the state to date to 1 million individuals.
