ANDOVER, MASS. — Some 100 workers at a Raytheon plant here could be affected by layoffs.
According to reports, a Raytheon spokesman confirmed yesterday that the Andover facility, which makes chips for cell phones, plans to initially eliminate 25 to 35 positions, and ultimately may lay off up to 100 people.

Raytheon had previously notified 100 unionized workers that it would end weekend shifts at the plant, reports said.
Lexington, Mass.-based Raytheon last week posted first quarter earnings of $97 million, or 28 cents per share, from continuing operations, compared with $80 million, or 24 cents per share, a year ago.
