Rhode Island Hospital makes top list

Rhode Island Hospital is among the nation’s top performance leader hospitals, according to Illinois-based health care information company Solucient. The hospital was subsequently featured in Modern Healthcare magazine and is the only hospital in Rhode Island to make Solucient’s top 100 list.

The hospital’s top management was recognized for developing consistent and effective performance improvement over five years at a faster rate than other hospitals in the country. The measures include quality of care, operational efficiencies and financial performance.

Solucient said performance improvement leaders such as Rhode Island Hospital decreased their average mortality rate 24 percent, compared to 8 percent at peer hospitals.

“This award is a tribute not only to our senior management, but the entire staff,” said Joseph Amaral, president and CEO of Rhode Island Hospital, which is part of the four-hospital network run by Lifespan.
