Rhode Island, Miriam hospitals fill surgery posts

PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island Hospital and Miriam Hospital, both Lifespan hospitals, announced the appointment of William Cioffi, MD, to key leadership positions in their surgery departments. Cioffi, who has been chief of trauma surgery at Rhode Island Hospital for the last seven years, is now surgeon in chief for that hospital. At Miriam Hospital he will be the executive surgeon in chief and will work with that hospital’s surgeon in chief, Gerson Greenburg, MD. Cioffi will also be chairman of the department of surgery at Brown Medical School. He succeeds Kirby Bland, MD.
