PROVIDENCE – Nearly 240 elementary schoolteachers throughout Rhode Island will receive training this month through a grant that allows them to use computer technology to teach.
The $1.2 million grant, received through the federal No Child Left Behind Title II Technology program, will provide teachers with 60 hours of advanced training from 27 schools in seven school districts.
Those schools participating in the training include Burrillville, Central Falls, Cranston, Pawtucket, Providence, West Warwick and the International School, a charter school in Pawtucket.

URI joins Bank Rhode Island CampusMate program
NORTH KINGSTOWN – Bank Rhode Island recently announced a multi-year agreement to provide its CampusMate program to the University of Rhode Island.
CampusMate is a patent-pending program that streamlines financial management for students, parents and college administrators through real-time Web reporting and downloads.
By using CampusMate, students and families can make payments and fund several university programs via the Web or telephone. Tuition, fees and student bank accounts can be accessed and funded through this program. The online program also includes a MasterCard debit check-writing ability and free on-campus ATM usage.
“We are delighted to have URI join the CampusMate program,” said Merrill Sherman, president and chief executive at Bank Rhode Island. “Working with the state’s flagship campus is a major opportunity for the bank to expand our services within Rhode Island while facilitating the automation of the university’s payment processing.”
Rhode Island School of Design and Johnson & Wales University have also joined the program.
