Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen for the first time since late February, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s May 8 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve unleaded regular averaging $2.91 per gallon, 1 cent less than last week. Prices locally are still 66 cents higher than at the start of 2006. A year ago at this time the average price was $2.21.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for regular unleaded is 14 cents, from a low of $2.85 to a high of $2.99. Motorists should continue to shop around for the best prices in their area, AAA said.
