Gasoline prices in Rhode Island have fallen for the fifth straight week, and have retreated back under the $2-per-gallon mark, according to AAA of Southern New England’s weekly price survey.
Self-serve, regular unleaded gas now averages $1.99 per gallon in Rhode Island, AAA reported, down two cents from last week and nine cents since Nov. 1. The last time local gas prices averaged less than $2 was in early October. A year ago at this time, the average price was $1.56.

AAA said it continues to find a wide range of prices, this week 23 cents – from $1.88 to $2.11. AAA urges motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area.
Mid-grade gasoline is selling for an average of $2.11, premium is averaging $2.20, and diesel is averaging $2.31, AAA said.
