Gasoline prices in Rhode Island inched up another penny over the last week, the eighth consecutive week in which prices locally have risen, according to AAA Southern New England.
AAA’s Jan. 30 survey of prices in Rhode Island found self-serve, unleaded regular averaging $2.40 per gallon, one cent more than last week. Prices have risen an average of 36 cents per gallon over the last eight weeks, though in each of the last three weeks the increase has only been one cent. A year ago at this time, the average price was $1.93.

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for regular unleaded is 17 cents, from a low of $2.32 to a high of $2.49. Motorists are urged to shop around for the best prices in their area.
