PROVIDENCE – Rhode Island gasoline prices are unchanged from last week, ending a five-week streak of escalating prices, AAA Northeast said Monday.
However, gasoline prices are continuing to rise in Massachusetts, and reached the $2 mark for the first time since last December. Gas prices in the Bay State have risen for six consecutive weeks.

In the Ocean State, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.05 per gallon; it is equal to the national average for regular unleaded of $2.05. A year ago at this time the average price in Rhode Island was 32 cents higher, at $2.37.
Prices range from $1.95 to $2.10, with midgrade unleaded at $2.31; premium unleaded at $2.46 and diesel at $2.14.
In Massachusetts, self-serve, regular unleaded is averaging $2.01 per gallon, 2 cents higher than last week and 30 cents higher than five weeks ago. The Massachusetts price is 4 cents below the national average. A year ago at this time the average price in Massachusetts was 34 cents higher, at $2.35.
Prices range from $1.89 to $2.19, with midgrade unleaded at $2.26; premium unleaded at $2.42; and diesel at $2.17.
