A grant of up to $250,000 from the Rhode Island chapter of the Associated General Contractors of America’s Industry Advancement Fund will help with the renovation of office and classroom space on the second floor of the Olneyville Housing Corp.’s historic Polish National Home at 66 Chaffee St., Providence. The Providence Plan is set to lease the space for its YouthBuild Providence job training and education programs.
The grant completes financing arrangements for the nearly $1.2 million estimated budget for renovating 9,000 square feet of interior space in the early 20th century building.
“One of the RIAGC’s major goals is to interest students in construction careers and related professions, and to help provide the education required to qualify for those careers,” said Eric F. Anderson, RIAGC executive director. “The $250,000 Industry Advancement Fund grant is the largest financial commitment the RIAGC has ever made in support of that goal.”
