RI.gov receives two awards

PROVIDENCE – RI.gov, the official website for the state of Rhode Island, won two awards during the 2010 third quarter from the Web Marketing Association and Harvard University’s Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at the John F. Kennedy School of Government.

The Web Marketing Association’s 14th annual WebAward competition gave RI.gov an outstanding website recognition. The competition was judged by a team of independent Internet professionals from various fields, including media, advertising, content providers and webmasters, RI.gov said in a news release on Oct. 14.

The R.I. Department of Business Regulation’s Online Liquor Compliancy Service was also named as one of 173 Bright Ideas by Harvard University’s Ash Center. The list highlights creative government initiatives around the country.

RI.gov has won six honors this year, including the latest two awards. The honors include the Center for Digital Government’s Best of the Web finalist, Interactive Media Awards outstanding achievement, a silver communicator Award, and www.juggle.com’s top government website award.
