The U.S. Small Business Administration informed Senator Jack Reed (D-R.I.) today that Providence County has been declared an Economic Injury Disaster Loan Area as a result of the winter storm on Dec. 6 and 7. Small Businesses may file applications for low-interest economic injury assistance loans with the SBA to alleviate the costs of the storm.
Reed stated in a release, “These loans can help Rhode Island’s small businesses recover the costs and lost revenue experienced during the snow storm that occurred during the holiday shopping season. The December storm closed businesses, disrupted traffic and public transportation, grounded air traffic and generally created circumstances that greatly strained state and local government resources.”
