St. Anne’s adds digital imaging

St. Anne’s Hospital has opened a new diagnostic imaging service at Narragansett Mills, 1565 North Main St., Suite 306-A, Fall River, that offers digital X-ray and 40-slice computed tomography (CT) scanning services. Staffed by registered radiologic technologists, the facility is open weekdays from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
In a news release, the hospital noted that digital X-rays are especially useful in the detection of pathology and some disease processes, with superior image resolution for such common imaging requests as a chest X-ray. In addition, images are viewable instantly.
Joan Sousa, administrative director of St. Anne’s Diagnostic Imaging Services, said that because all of the hospital’s diagnostic imaging capabilities are digital, they can be shared electronically with physicians, no matter where they are located, via the hospital’s Picture Archiving Communication System, part of St. Anne’s electronic medical record system.
On its main campus, the hospital offers X-ray; CT; positron emission tomography/CT (PET/CT); magnetic resonance imaging (MRI); digital mammography; nuclear medicine with CT capability; ultrasound; and diagnostic cardiology services. In addition, St. Anne’s offers digital X-ray services at the MelCor Building, 191 Bedford St., Fall River.
The new Narragansett Mills facility is open to anyone with a physician referral for X-ray or CT services. It is fully handicapped-accessible and includes free valet parking. No appointments are required. For more information, call (508) 235-5225.
