BOSTON — The Affordable Housing Trust Fund has awarded the $20 million balance
of its original $100 million trust fund to 13 Massachusetts communities, including
Fall River, Barnstable and Sandwich. The trust fund was set up by the Massachusetts
legislature last year. The state Department of Housing and Community Development
oversees the trust program and the Massachusetts Housing Finance Agency administers
funds. The funds are designed to create 825 units of housing, 615 of which will
be affordable to low and moderate income families.
