Attleboro, Mass.-based Swank Inc., a maker of men’s jewelry, belts and leather goods, has eliminated 383 jobs, or about 37 percent of its workforce, this year to cut costs as it exits the jewelry manufacturing business and focuses on men’s accessories.
Swank began eliminating 93 workers in the first quarter of this year, Chief Financial Officer Jerold Kassner said. The company cut another 250 workers in Costa Rica when it closed a jewelry and belt manufacturing plant in April and trimmed 40 more workers in July when it sold its women’s jewelry business.
