The United Way of Southeastern New England’s 74th annual campaign raised a record-breaking $21,002,828, campaign Chairman Joseph Walsh announced at a campaign ending celebration last week. “Sometimes we felt like lion tamers, sometimes like human cannonballs, and sometimes like the world’s tallest men,” said United Way President and CEO Dennis M. Murphy at the curcus-themed event. “But always, there was gratification in knowing that we were working to make our state a better place for everyone to live.”
This year’s total exceeds last year by 4.6 percent.

“When called upon to help, the people of Rhode Island always respond enthusiastically,” Walsh said. “They care about helping people and recognize that giving through United Way is an effective way of doing that.”
